David Henderson Miller

7622 Private David Henderson Miller is

remembered with Honour on the

Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial

He served with the 1st Bn., Scots Guards and died on 11 November 1914 Aged 24. He went to France on the 13th of August and fought at the battle of Mons and would have been given the Mons Clasp to go on his 1914 Star if he had lived. His family also got a British War medal and a Victory medal and a death plaque with his name on it.

Before enlisting he was a member of the Paisley Police Force. Originally he was posted as missing and later the family informed he was presumed dead.

He was the son of James McD. and Isabella Miller, of Ardmore, Edderton, Ross-shire. His brother George was also killed in action. Another brother Charles served with the Australian Expeditionary Force.
